My Everyday make-up look

It's been such a long time since I've done a makeup post, which is an understatement, to say the least. I think along with trying to establish my new blog style I was trying to rediscover my own personal style as well. I love make-up, there is an ongoing debate I have noticed in my life about the need to wearing make-up. People tend to think make-up is used to impress people, it's sole purpose is to enhance your look so therefore you must be trying to impress people right? WRONG! I don't wear make-up for anyone other than myself. Make-up makes me feel strong, confident and creative, for me a look is never complete without makeup. Make-up helps me identify my personal style and so with saying that let me share with you my current everyday look and the products I have been using to achieve this.

THE PRODUCTS:

The products I use at the moment are a good mix between high end more expensive products to cheap but quality products as well. As much as I wish I could afford all high-end products the reality of wearing makeup every day means it just isn't affordable for me right now. Let's start with the foundation.

FOUNDATION: Finding the perfect brand and shade of foundation has been a long struggle for me. Make-up can make you feel confident, but if it doesn't match your skin tone and someone says something about it, it can make you feel horrible. Make-up is all about if YOU feel good but it's hard to feel good if someone is criticising you. I remember being told by a saleslady (I won't name the brand) that I looked orange and my makeup did not suit me. As a young girl, this was hard to hear especially because I left the house feeling good about myself. After this experience, I was on the hunt for the perfect foundation. I've used heaps of brands in the past from Revlon to Max Factor, however, they never seemed to last on my face for the full day and I would constantly have to top up. I have finally landed on Nars all day luminous weightless foundation. This foundation retails at $84.00 NZD, yes this is on the more expensive side but I felt if I was going splurge on a quality make-up product then the foundation is probably a good product to pick. I wear the shade mont blanc. I love this product and doubt I will be changing it for a long time. It lasts all day, it doesn't crumble or do anything weird, it makes your skin look airbrushed and smooth. I usually use the Revlon stay matte powder in translucent, again I swear by this product, for a cheap $16.00 powder it pairs perfectly with the Nars foundation.

EYESHADOW: I have a love for collecting beautiful eye shadow palettes however I am not the most adventurous with my colours. Lately, I have been loving the darker browns and berry reds. I have fallen in love with a new cheaper brand on the market call Revolution. My eyes often flare up with cheap eyeshadows as I have sensitive skin, but the eyeshadow palettes this brand produces are affordable, beautiful and don't affect my skin at all! Check out this brand asap as it's my new little obsession that I would love to share with everyone. You can buy Revolution in Farmers (if you live in New Zealand) or online I have seen it advertised on ASOS. The eyeshadow palette I use costs $15.00, there larger palettes cost around $20.00 or $30.00. Speaking about my obsession with this brand is the fixing spray they have. They offer about three different fixing sprays and for a girl that hits the gym, I can't get enough of the sports fix spray! Oh, and on the plus side, a bunch of their products are VEGAN!

I think I have talked about this next product before but I always ALWAYS top off any eye look with the better than sex mascara by Too Faced, just like the Nars foundation this is a product that is always good and I won't be changing for some time!

LIPS: I don't venture out much with lipstick colours very much either I tend to stick to pale pinks and nudes. The brand Revolution I just spoke about has the most amazing matte lipsticks in so many different shades. I never used to go for matte lipsticks but they set on your lips and you can drink, eat and kiss with no fear your lipstick is going to come off! These lipsticks cost around $12.00.

I don't want to make this post too long so I have focused on the general products and brands I use every day at the moment. What I want people to take away from this post is that you do you! Be confident in your style, I hate when people say "You don't need to wear make-up", I know I don't NEED TO but I want to! Be creative, have fun with it but most importantly be yourself, nobody has the right to tell you how you can and can not look.
